Thanks to Jane for her first Chair’s Chatter and welcome to the last Progress for this year.

I’ve very much enjoyed my first year in the Editor’s chair but have at times felt a little disconnected from the readership, with feedback only rarely being given. With this in mind we’re working to place links to the LAM blog in every article, so that you'll be able to post comments and reactions more seamlessly. Factual corrections and respectful differences of opinion as well as general reactions are all welcome.

Why is there a photo of a celebrity footballer on the cover of Progress rather than the usual bike or biking related image? Read Paul Harle’s article and find out – then get back doing those figures of eight and emergency braking drills!

Are the non-Observing Full Members a neglected group within LAM? Hopefully not, but some might be in danger of forgetting their training. Derek Facey tells some home truths regarding some of the antics he has seen on rides. Hopefully this will spark some discussion as well as some reflection on our own riding standards.
