This month’s clip is a reminder of the huge importance of always maintaining awareness of our surroundings, reading the road ahead, planning a route, the need to always consider the all-important positioning and how slow speed riding is a skill all riders must be able to do in all circumstances.
The background to the clip, who the unfortunate rider is and quite why he didn’t see the bollards remains unclear. However anecdotal (and unconfirmed) evidence suggests that the rider in question is a French motorcycling journalist being filmed for the magazine’s vlog. Don’t fall victim to a similar error – always plan ahead and anticipate. This serious accident could have been avoided if the rider had been more aware of his surroundings and read, anticipated and planned for what was ahead – a lesson for us all.
