    Chairs Chatter

    Dear All,

I am writing this after my return from another fantastic LAM Wales weekend. We changed hotels to one that could cater for everyone being in one place and the feedback was very positive indeed. Attendees enjoyed the full the facilities of the spa, pool and sauna as well as fantastic food.

A huge thanks to Paul Harle for the enormous amount of work he put in to organise this event. Also, a personal thank you to the Observers and ride leaders, as it's you who put the smiles on everyone's faces.

Events like Wales allow us to showcase what LAM is all about and here is a quote from one of the new Associates on the trip:-

“What really stood out for me as a brand new Associate, was the warm welcome, friendship and knowledge from the LAM team. The places we rode were great but the people made the biggest difference. I just wanted you to let you know how much I've appreciated what you've created and thank you and the team for your leadership in doing this”

Paul has booked the hotel again for next year with lots more single rooms!

    Awards

I had the pleasure to present test certificates to a great couple – Anthony Findlay and Kathy Balmain. They both joined up together at the end of January and both took their tests with Jon Taylor on the same day in August. Not that Kathy is competitive at all, but she got a F1rst!

The raffle raised £139 for the Chairs charity. Many thanks to everyone who contributed with the prizes.

    Events

I was pleased to hear Matthew Porter had a really successful longest day run, thanking you Mathew for again organising this trip. I know for you and others it really was the longest day..... thanks to Eurotunnel!

MCD Machine Control Day will be on Sunday 21st Oct at Phoenix MC training centre Crystal Palace and not the Mitcham test centre, as previously stated. The reason for change was the DVSA wanted just short of £500 for the event and the terms and conditions were restrictive to the exercises we wanted to conduct. All attendees will receive directions and a "how to get there".

The training team and committee have sent 20 Observers on a bike skills day. This is another example of our group maintaining the highest skill sets for the Observer team, which is of direct benefit to our Associates. We hope to have the rest of the Observers attend at a later stage.

Eddie Wright continues to develop full member’s skill with his Group Ride Training (GRT) on the 6th Oct. Any full member wishing to attend please sign up on tracker. Again big thanks to Eddie for his time and effort in the GRT.

    AGM

The AGM is fast approaching and everyone is welcome to attend, but only full members may vote on the officers of the committee. AGM will be at 19:30 on Tuesday 6th November at The Warren, BR2 7AL.

Winter is fast approaching so make sure you have the appropriate kit. Be wary of the weather conditions, check your tyres and pressures and all those other things that an Advanced rider will do.
